Advanced Meditech Expands Plastic Injection Molding Capabilities

FLUSHING, New York – 4 January 2004 – Medical device developer Advanced Meditech International, Inc. (AMI) announced that it has recently increased its capacity to produce high quality plastic medical devices in China.

AMI President Curtis Lenox was sanguine about the opportunities that this expansion will make possible. “We’ve doubled the number of state-of-the-art injection molding machines from 3 to 6. Depending on the size of the pieces desired, we can now produce up to 100,000 units per day. Previously many projects were impractical for us because we couldn’t produce in high enough volume. The new machinery makes a great many more projects available to AMI and our partner companies.”

Producing molds can represent a significant part of the initial costs to introduce a new medical device. Even relatively simple molds can cost $10,000 or more in developed countries such as the United States. In China, molds typically cost less than half the cost of similar molds produced elsewhere, with little or no sacrifice in quality.
