Advanced Meditech Introduces 2 New Ringed Forceps for Vasectomy

FLUSHING, New York – 15 November 2003 – Medical device developer Advanced Meditech International, Inc. (AMI) announced that it has introduced two new ringed forceps to extend its market-leading Li Brand™(TM) vasectomy instrument line. With the addition of these two new ringed forceps, Li Brand™(TM) is now the most comprehensive line of vasectomy instruments in the world.

The two new instruments are a small, fine-tipped ringed forceps and a large-ringed, teardrop-shaped forceps. Compared to the standard-setting Li Brand™(TM) ringed forceps for no-scalpel vasectomy, the two new forceps are not cantilevered, so they cannot match the original in atraumatic function. However, they can help practitioners in other ways.

“Our customers requested these new forceps and we delivered, said “Michael Collier of AMI’s Marketing Department. “While they can’t be used to perform a standard no-scalpel vasectomy (NSV) as developed in China, in certain situations they can be useful. For instance, some vasectomists told us they wanted a smaller forceps to reach into the tiny opening in the scrotum to deliver the second vas during vasectomy.”

He added, “The teardrop shaped forceps is more than twice the diameter of a conventional NSV ringed forceps. It cannot produce a fixation that is as effective and consistently repeatable and atraumatic as the standard forceps, but it can be more easily applied to the scrotal skin. For this reason it is often attractive as a training instrument for NSV.
